Air Handler Repair

What is an Air Handler?

Air handling units (also known as fan coil unit and blower assemblies) are the indoor components of air conditioners, heat pumps and some furnaces.

An air handler is just that…it handles air. It is a component usually found in the basement or attic of your home. It’s the part of a heating and/or cooling system responsible for transferring air through your duct work. It can contain an auxiliary heater, and/or evaporator coil and air filter. It’s a large metal box most of us forget about until something goes wrong with our air conditioning and/or heating system.

Common problems with air handlers:

  • It is on, but not blowing the same amount of air as usual.
  • It’s leaking water.
  • It’s encased in ice (frozen).
  • It smells unpleasant.
